President Resource Therapy International.

Philipa Thornton is CEO and Co-Founder with her husband Chris Paulin of the Resource Therapy Institute Australia and the founder and director of Marriage Works, a professional health service designed to coach couples and individuals toward joyful aliveness.

We run workshops, offer supervision and master classes in Resource Therapy, as a psychologist, I have a BA Psych(Hons), BA Criminology, and Grad. Dip in Systemic Couples Therapy, professionally certified in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Imago Relationship Therapy founded by Harville Hendrix and Helen Lakelly-Hunt – Getting the Love you Want ‘ and on the supervisor pathway in that model.

I belong to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency,  am a Psychology Board Approved Clinical Supervisor, Australian Senior Level RT Trainer and President of Resource Therapy International the official governing body of Resource Therapy founded by Gordon Emmerson Ph.D. my friend and mentor.

Truly I am so passionate about Resource Therapy (RT) and what it can offer clinicians and clients in the mental health field and live to share it with twenty-five years field proven field experience.

My years of experience in psychology are sought after and I’ve been featured in the Australian Women’s Weekly, A Current Affair, The Project Channel 10,  Todd Sampson’s documentary Mirror, Mirror 2, Radio NZ, the ABC  and regularly interviewed on Radio and other media by journalists on relationship and psychological issues. I am especially keen to write and introduce Resource Therapy to the world.

In 2016 Chris and I presented “Play it again Sam, Gambling, Pornography and other Behavioural addictions, we need a new approach to treatment.” Introducing Resource Therapy and its powerful healing approach to process addictions on the Gold Coast at the Australia and New Zealand Addiction Conference.

Super excited to have conducted a 90-minute workshop on RT’s unique healing protocols for addiction treatment at the Australian Counselling Association Sydney Conference 2017.

In 2021 we were honoured to be invited to conduct the preconference workshop sharing Resource Therapy for the Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council ( ADAC) annual conference which was incredibly well received.

 Humbly excited to offer a German/English translated online Resource Therapy as applied in PTSD treatment in collaboration with Ego State Therapy Switzerland.
